Look At Wales 1950s colour travelogue ( Part 1)
Look At Wales 1950s colour travelogue (Part 1). Look At Wales by British Pathe Ltd, 1956. With a commentary by Edward Ward. PART 1: The travelogue begins with a graphic map of Wales. A gentleman pulls up in a horse and cart outside a valley cottage where two girls run out in traditional dress. We see the Royal National Eisteddfod and the procession of the bards (poets of the year). Edward Ward talks about Welsh politicians and notable figures, and stresses how the Welsh people are obstinately Welsh and enjoyed a strong sense of community four centuries before Julius Caesar. We see rural shots and sheep, the narrator explains that the Welsh hills and mountains have long protected the country from invasion.
