CHECHNYA: RUSSIA, CHECHNYA CONFLICT LATEST

Russian, Nat Russian forces say they are making progress toward taking Grozny and have control of a considerable part of the Chechen capital. But Chechen snipers continue to pin down Russian troops trying to advance in the streets of Grozny. Top Russian officers had said in recent days that Russia was just days away from establishing full control over the capital. Fighting is raging in the battered streets of Grozny as Russian troops press ahead in their quest to defeat the Chechen rebels.
