Lure Making a Natural Wood Grain Crankbait Fishing Lure

A while back the utility company came out and killed all the shrubs, bushes, trees etc. growing along my fence. (Without my permission. ) So I decided to use a piece for lure making. I figured the grain structure would be really cool because of the way it had grown all around the chain link fence. I liked how it turned out but whatever type of wood this is turned out to be very hard and dense. Couldn t even put lead in it or the lure would sink.
