Railway of Death POW Burma Siam ( Thailand) railway

Filmed shortly after the end of World War Two some of the aftermath of the 258 mile long BurmaThailand (Siam) railway, constructed by a slave force of POWs and Asian civilians 194243. Known as the Railway of Death it claimed the lives of an estimated 16, 000 allied troops and 90, 000 Asian labourers. Working on this railway was the fate of the majority of those captured by the japanese in Singapore, many being sent up on railway cars
