The new structure built to confine Chernobyls damaged reactor number 4 was shown to the media for the first time at the nuclear power plant in Ukraine. With a span of 843 feet, the special shelter is the largest moveable landbased structure ever built, and it took nine years to complete. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development funded the new confinement project with 715 million, alongside contributions from the European Union and 45 other countries.
