Aktivisten besetzen leerstehendes Hostel in Berlin und fordern Umwidmung zur Flüchtlingsunterkunft
Sechs Mitglieder der Initiative Hotels to Housing (Hotels zu Wohnraum) haben am Samstag ein ehemaliges Hostel besetzt. Das Wombats City Hostel hat 80 Zimmer und steht seit 2019 leer. Die Aktivisten fordern, dass das verlassene Haus wieder bewohnt wird und zwar von Menschen, die auf eine Unterkunft angewiesen sind und nicht von weiteren Touristinnen der Generation Z. Dutzende Unterstützer versammelten sich vor dem Hostel zu einer Demonstration. Trotz aufgeheizter Stimmung blieb es friedlich. Am Nachmittag wurde das Gebäude geräumt. Der Hauseigentümer hat Strafantrag gegen die Besetzer gestellt. Das günstig in Berlin Mitte gelegene und profitable Hostel wurde 2019 geschlossen, nachdem ein Betriebsrat gegründet worden war, der mehr Mitbestimmung forderte. Mehr auf unserer Webseite:
