Building a Saxon House with Hand Tools: THE PIT, Bushcraft Project ( PART 2)
We continue building a bushcraft saxon house using hand tools. In part 2 we dig a pit and make log walls for the perimeter of the saxon house. We use a 100 year old hand tool called a mattock to help dig through the soil. We then used a shovel and spade to get through the soil layer and down to the gravel. Using some logs that we cut with an ancient cross cut saw in the previous episode, we built a perimeter wall and used the axe to make stakes that would secure the foundation logs in place.
