Pratt and Whitney Radials DC3 Dakota and Harvard Pair
Aero Legends Douglas DC3 Dakota, KP220, GANAF displaying with their North American T6G Texan pair, during the Headcorn Battle of Britain Airshow 2022. The Texans are powered by a single Pratt Whitney R1340 and the Dakota by a pair of Pratt Whitney R1830 s. Dakota KP220: C47B Dakota KP220 was completed at the Douglas Aircraft plant at Santa Monica, California, USA on 8 June 1945. It was given USAAF serial 4477104, but on 9 June was flown to Montreal, Canada and transferred to the Royal Air Force (RAF), becoming Dakota KP220. It was ferried to Britain and delivered to 435 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), coded OFMR, based at Down Ampney on 1 December. In March 1946 435 Squadron returned to Canada, and KP220 was transferred to 46 Group s Air Officer Commanding (AOC), operating from Croydon.
