Scottish Military Tattoo (1920 1929)
Scottish military tattoo. Scotland. British Army at Dreghorn Castle in Scotland. An odd sort of war game; in which an Army convoy; incl. soldiers on foot; a few gun carriages; even 2 bagpipe players; are attacked on the way across a field by a group of British men dressed in costumes as Indian rebels w, turbans; fake long beards; armed w, swords and knives as well as rifles. The soldiers are dressed for hot climate; in shorts. Scenes of the Indians charging; mock battle w, hand to hand combat; which (of course) the British win. Not known if this is actually a serious attempt to prepare soldiers for unrest in the colonies. Colonialism; racism; India FILM A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
