Rallies, vigils continue across US to show support for Asian Americans in wake of spa shootings
People gathered in cities across the United States on Sunday for another day of protests to show support for the AsianAmerican community in the wake of the deadly spa shootings in Atlanta, GA. , that left eight people dead. One protester in New York City said he brought his daughter to the protest to stand up for yourself and to stand up as a group against discrimination. The events in cities across America follow a steady rise in attacks on AsianAmericans. Many have been outraged that the gunman charged in Tuesdays attack on three Atlantaarea massage parlours, in which six of the eight people killed were women of Asian descent, was not charged with hate crimes. Officials reportedly said this weekend that they had yet to find concrete evidence that was enough for them to build a federal hate crime case.
