Is war an inescapable part of who we are , The Stream
Historian Margaret MacMillan s latest book War: How Conflict Shaped Us is a provoking and broad meditation on the nature of war, how it impacts human societies and even how it has driven innovation and improved the standing of women. MacMillan, Professor of History at the University of Toronto and emeritus Professor of International History at the University of Oxford, believes that we don t study war enough or talk about it enough and that our short memories can render us blind to threats of conflict. In this episode of The Stream, we meet MacMillan to discuss her new book and to consider the questions raised by her work as a historian of the 20th century.
