Van Heflin, Marsha Hunt, Lee Bowman, Samuel S. Hinds, John Litel, Eddie Quillan Ambitious attorney Jerry Ladimer (Lee Bowman), working for mob boss Matty (John Litel), gets a new mayor (Samuel S. Hinds) elected to help further his own political plans. When the mayor vows to destroy the city s organized crime network, Jerry has him murdered and frames a local business owner (Eddie Quillan) for the crime. But the city s new crime laboratory, run by Gordon McKay (Van Heflin) and his feisty assistant, Jane Mitchell (Marsha Hunt), can find evidence pointing to the real killer.
