Yoshin ryu Naginata jutsu 42nd Japanese Kobudo Demonstration (2019)
Koyama Noriko Sensei and his students demonstrating Yoshinryu Naginatajutsu during the 42nd Nihon Kobudo Embutaikai held at the Nippon Budokan on February 3rd, 2019. The event also commemorated the 40th anniversary of the Nihon Kobudo Kyokai. Yoshinryu was developed in the early Tokugawa period (c. 1660) by Akiyama Shirobei Yoshitoki. Yoshinryū Naginatajutsu stemmed from Yoshinryū and specializes in techniques of Naginata, the Japanese halberd. In addition to the Naginata techniques, the school also teaches with the spear (Sojutsu), the short stick (Hanbo) and the chain sickle (Kusarigama).
