Sidmouth Beach is a beautiful expanse of sand and shingle beach, clean, accessible, and surrounded by awe inspring cliffs that make the beach feel very secluded. Sidmouth is known as the gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Sidmouth town beach is your typical seaside town beach, with a lovely promenade to walk across, colourful beachfacing buildings, and a lovely shingle beach. The attractive Victorian resort of Sidmouth lies on the coast about 15 miles from Exeter. The main beach on the towns seafront is largely made up of handsized pebbles above the shoreline. At low tide a strip of rich red sand is exposed with some interesting rock pools. Sidmouths gently sloping beach is backed by a low sea wall, and there are a number of groynes leading into the sea, to minimise beach erosion. Redhued cliffs flank both sides of the beach.
