Crooked Jack ( Dominic Behan) Al ODonnell and the Dubliners
The best thing that has happened to the Dubliners recently was the addition of Al O Donnell as temporary lead singer due to an illness by Patsy Watchorn. I have since gone back to Al O Donnell s old albums and I really love him. He chose great songs reminiscent of those that Luke Kelly sang with the Dubs. Crooked Jack, set to the tune of Star of the County Down, is about the plight of Irishmen working construction in England. I find it interesting to watch Al play in a more loose metre making it hard for
