TWO BROTHERS: Armstrong Teagarden
LOUIS ARMSTRONG once said that no other jazzman gave him as much pleasure to listen to as JACK TEAGARDEN, and Jack was white. Born in Vernon, Texas in 1905, Teagarden grew up fascinated by the church music in the black part of that small town. When Louie formed his small group, The All Stars, in 19467 Jack, already a great star in his own right, was the trombonist and featured singer.
