Gilt Silk 17th Century Costume at the Burrell Collection
This new display showcases early seventeenthcentury costume in The Burrell Collection. The highlight is an extremely rare crimson silk satin petticoat embroidered with a variety of flowers and birds that will be displayed fulllength for the first time. Dating from about 16101620, its provenance suggests that it may have belonged to Anne of Denmark, the wife of James VI and I.
