Michael Caine in Conversation. Subscribe: Legendary British actor Michael Caine took to the BFI Southbank stage for the launch of his autobiography, The Elephant to Hollywood. In conversation with Francine Stock, Caine discusses a remarkable career spanning five decades, which had led to two Oscars and a knighthood. In this clip, Caine talks about the renaissance of his career after Jack Nicholson s persistence in casting him in Blood Wine got him out of self imposed retirement. He also recollects the challenges he faced in becoming an actor, with drama schools impossible to find in Elephant Castle, and he tells the story of how he lucked into getting the role of Lieutenant Gonville Bromhead in Zulu (1964).
