Sophia Loren Remembering Marriage Italian Style
The Italian film Marriage Italian Style (Matrimonio All italiana) was released in December, 1964 and was an instant hit with critics and public alike. Based on the Italian play Filumena Marturano, the movie became a perfect vehicle for the great acting team of LorenMastroinanni. Set in her native Naples, and directed by her favorite Director, Vittorio De Sica, costarring Marcello Mastroianni, Sophia gave a tourdeforce performance in the plum role of Filumena. The role is time spanning, requiring Sophia to play a woman from age 17 progressing to one in her 50 s, and she did so formidably; going from comedy to drama effortlessly. The story is told via flashbacks, beginning and ending in the present. The film has been one of my enduring favorites and with this photo parade video set to the movie s theme song, I wanted to pay honor and tribute to the great Sophia Loren. Sophia went on to get her second Oscar nomination for this film, the film was also nominated for Best For
