What Is Human Physiology, , Shri Ram Medical College
The study of the human body and its functions is called physiology. It explains the molecular and cellular level workings of cells and organ systems, as well as the broader biochemical and physical mechanisms that keep the body running. It sheds light on the normal functioning of the body and what goes wrong in disease states. The field of physiology relies heavily on laboratorybased, fundamental research. Some physiologists focus on studying individual cells or proteins, while others may investigate how cells work together to produce tissues, organs, and systems. While anatomists focus on the structures of the human body, physiologists investigate how those structures function. Xrays and ultrasounds show your anatomy, but urine, blood, and electrocardiograms show your physiology (EKGs). Many different organ systems are studied in detail by doctors thanks to physiology. Your heart and blood vessels, often called the cardiovascular system. The organs and tissues involved in breaking down f
