The Faces Pool Hall Richard (Top of the Pops 1973) Artist : The Faces Song : Pool Hall Richard Pool Hall Richard is a song and single by British group, Faces and written by group members, Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood. It was produced by Mike Bobak. Despite appearing on the picture sleeve, Ronnie Lane does not play bass or sing backing vocals on either side of the single, having quit the band before it was recorded and released as a single. Instead, guitarist Wood additionally performs Lane s usual bass and vocal duties on the Aside, while Lane s eventual replacement Tetsu Yamauchi plays bass on the live bside (which was recorded a few weeks later at his debut performance at The 1973 Reading Festival). Release and chart performance It was released in the UK in 1973 on the Warner Brothers label with the Motown song I Wish It Would Rain as the B side. It made number 8 in the UK charts in 1973 staying for 11 weeks on the chart.
