An 18yearold hero Private Chafer, 1st East Yorks Regiment, who won VC for carrying important messages under shell fire although wounded 1916. Location of events unknown. Homecoming scene: mother standing outside family home; by steps; Pvt. C. comes out of house down steps; walking with cane; accompanied by another young man (teenage brother ).
