Songs My Mother Taught Me is the fourth of the seven Gypsy Melodies (Op. 55) by Antonín Dvořák (18411904). The lyrics were composed from a Czech poem written by the Czech lyricist Adolf Heyduk, which Dvořák himself translated into German. Kreisler (18751962) arranged it for violin, and this is the piece performed here.
