French Troops (1916)
France. On the Western Front ( ) during World War One we see French army troops marching through ruins, carrying shovels and ladders. Men in the background seem to be demolishing a warwrecked building. Tiredlooking soldiers stand in rows for inspection by some officers nobody s uniform is without wrinkles or dirt. There is an ancient stone building in the background. The soldiers quickly step into place to turn and march off. They look as if they ve been through some rough times. Just about all of them have moustaches. After all the soldiers have marched off we see an elderly woman pushing a wheelbarrow walking up the stone street.
