Edwardian life, Leeds Lifeboat Procession, Year 1902
Leeds Lifeboat Procession and Sports at Roundhay Park (1902) Eager crowds perch atop city centre walls and in Roundhay Park in Leeds to view a procession and water carnival raising funds for the lifeboat movement. The events included a demonstration by lifeboat crews from Yorkshire s Robin Hood s Bay and Caister in Norfolk. In the previous year, nine members of the Caister lifeboat crew had died during a rescue attempt off the Norfolk coast.
