Peter Sinclare Sinclair (1940)
Titles read: Now Pathetone Presents That Famous Scottish Entertainer PETER SINCLARE Cock O The London, probably Pathe Studio. Comedian Peter Sinclare (Sinclair ), dressed in comic traditional Scottish costume sings a song which is probably called Frugal Dougal, Minister of Meanness, about saving food and money during wartime. In the middle of the song he goes into some patter about saving petrol and various things, urging parents not to give their children icecream but to tell them ghost stories instead, to chill their blood. He makes a joke about Santa Claus not being able to get through the balloon barrage this Christmas. He ends the song by singing about helping his wife with mending clothes. He tells us he has eight children, and says he found his pyjamas were badly torn, so a stitch in time saves nine. Note: not sure if correct spelling of Peter s name is Sinclare or Sinclair.
