July 26th, 1984 The Purple Rain premiere is held at Graumann s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Besides invited guests and VIPS, a number of fans one tickets to the screening. The young and flourishing MTV covered the event and the lavish 100, 000 party afterwards at the nearby Palace where Prince The Revolution played a short, 3song set of Irresistible Bitch, 17 Days and When Doves Cry. Invited guests included Steven Spielberg, Eddie Murphy, Stevie Nicks, Lionel Richie and Little Richard.
