From Johnson s 1995 CD, Tangence, a long overdue collaboration between the celebrated trombonist, composerarranger and one of his longtime inspirations, Robert Farnon (described in Johnson s liner notes as both one of my composer, orchestrator heroes for as long as I can remember and quoting Stravinsky re Ravel one who orchestrates with the precision of a Swiss watchmaker ), comes this gorgeous Grammywinning arrangement, which, combined with the composer s presence as featured soloist, results in arguably the definitive version of Johnson s oftrecorded composition.
