I ve had the same PC case since the late 1990s. In 2021, I couldn t even tell you how many different systems have lived in that case Buying that case was a big deal for me. I was one of the OG case modders in the 90s. You couldn t buy a flashy computer case back then. The only choice you had was beige. And I couldn t afford a NEW, ugly, case anyway. .. Instead, I d take whatever box I could get my hands on and modify it into being a case. Computers were changing so fast back then. The standards were in a constant flux. LAN parties are what, for me anyway, shifted the mods to go beyond just functional. It was essentially hot rod culture, for geeks. Paint was a cost effective way to change up the style of your rig between events. I got pretty good at painting cases :) But then. .. Lian Li. .. that brushed aluminum. .. that precision. .. that engineering. I was done. And I really was. This about the same time the whole scene got Hot Topic ed.
