Up Close with a Graneledone Octopus, Nautilus Live
Our Corps of Exploration spotted this octopus over 2, 600 meters (8, 530 feet) deep at the Cascadia Basin site of Ocean Networks Canadas NEPTUNE observatory. Tentatively identified as a deepsea Graneledone pacifica, ROV Hercules provides us all a clear view of the cephalopod s shifting body texture and tentacles covered in suckers for grasping prey.
