Denny Laine Say You Dont Mind (1967 Promo Video HD)
Posting in tribute to the late Denny Laine who sadly passed away on 5 December 2023. Dennys debut solo single was the selfcomposed Say You Dont Mind. The track was released on the Deram label on 14 April 1967, backed by Ask Yourself. Having left the Moody Blues in October 1966, the track was recorded in early 1967, produced by Denny Cordell with a string arrangement by John Paul Jones. Reviewing the track in Record Mirror, Peter Jones noted the rather clever performance and song, but also pointed out it may be a bit too complex for general consumption, which unfortunately turned out to be the case as the track failed to chart in the UK. Cordell told Disc and Music Echo: I m sad it didn t do anything. We put such work into that record, but well do it soon. Despite its initial poor performance, the track later became a hit for Zombies singer, Colin Blunstone, who had recorded the song for his first album, One Year.
