Swimming Protege (1960)

Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. C, U of 19yearold Anita Lonsbrough putting on her swimming hat in an indoor swimming pool; it has a Union Jack flag on the front; M, S as she walks to the edge of the pool and dives in. M, S of her swimming along, doing the breast stroke, as the commentator tells us she won a Gold Medal at the Olympics for the 200 metre breast stroke. She reaches the end of the pool, flips over and swims back doing the front crawl. M, S of 4yearold Susan Holgate, holding a doll and watching with her father by the side of the pool as Anita swims up and down the pool. Mr Holgate helps Susan to take off her coat; she has a swimming costume on underneath. She walks to the edge of the pool where Anita is waiting and they both dive in (a sign on the wall says Ladies Side Only ).
