Mullumbimby better known as Mullum is located 20 minutes drive inland from Byron Bay, 30 minutes South of the Gold Coast Airport in Coolangatta and 30 minutes North of the Ballina Airport, Mullumbimby is only a short trip to stunning beaches, subtropical rainforests, a huge range of tourist activities and natural attractions waterfalls and national parks. Mullumbimby was originally a centre for the timber industry. Notably, red cedar was collected in great quantities along with Aussi Teak, Hoop Pine, Rosewood, Silky Oak with Back, Red Bean some only found in northern New South Wales, the name Mullumbimby, meaning small round hill, was given to the district by Aboriginal people Mullumbimby was a separate municipality from 1908 until 1980. This was a timber town full of hardworking farmers, Timber cutters, cane cutters and a thriving town.
