The Clean Odditty (live at the Rumba Bar, Auckland, 15 May 1982)

Odditty, with the intentional spelling mistake in the title, was a one of the more older songs that The Clean had in their set, dating back to 1980. Whilst it was never formally recorded in a studio, a practice room recording of the song, made in December 1980 in Dunedin on a Revox B77 2 track recorder, became the title track of the lowfi Odditties compilation released on cassette in 1983 (and subsequent CD reissue in 1994) and has appeared on every Clean compilation released since then. This was a private show, other bands on the bill included The Chills, Tall Dwarfs and This Sporting Life. The show was not only was filmed by North Television but was also recorded on a TEAC 4Track by Chris Knox and Doug Hood; some of the audio subsequently released includes Flamethrower by the Chills as one of two Bsides to the Rolling Moon single (1982) and Two Fat Sisters and Happy Birthday John by The Clean, released on their posthumous 12 E. P.
