George Galloway wins Rochdale by election in shock return to politics
George Galloway has won the Rochdale byelection, defeating the incumbent Labour Party who finished a distant fourth. Mr Galloway, from the Workers Party of Britain, ran on a proPalestinian ticket at a time when Sir Keir Starmer is under pressure to take a harder line on Gaza. In his victory speech, he said: Keir Starmer this is for Gaza. And you will pay a high price, in enabling, encouraging and covering for, the catastrophe presently going on in occupied Palestine in the Gaza strip.
