Pride Manhandled ( You wont break me now)
Pride was the band that spawned Sade in 1982. The backing band from Sade created all the music for this track written by Ray St John. This recording is from the BBC Studios and the work was featured on Peter Powell, s TV Show Oxford Road Show. Originally called Manhandled the chorus was changed by the band for this studio recording to a more gentle You won t break me now from the original that was quite hard hitting about a female getting abused. On lead vocals you have Nick Moxon, and on backing vocals Barbara Robinson and Helen Adu (Sade), Ray St John on guitar. And Paul and Paul on Bass Drums and Stuart on saxaphone. Andrew Hale was never a member of the band Pride and joined Sade in mid 1983. The band eventually split due to the popularity of the smaller group Sade that was featured in the bands live shows. The rest is history etc. Paul s photo book My 1980 s Pride, Sade and Esposito Photo Book: A photographic journey from the 1980 s club scene. (My Sade Story) Kindle E
