How to make one bass sound like two instruments

Hey guys, to achieve the muting effect, I wrapped a hairband around my bottom three strings but left the top string free. You can buy specially made string dampeners but I decided to go DIY instead I m also cutting the reverb for the lower frequencies to help separate the melody and bassline even more.
