Cimafunk KUTX Live in Studio 6A SXSW 2022 Since his 2017 debut, Cimafunk has been attracting fans outside of his native Cuba with hardhitting funk jams and electrifying stage shows. His cimarrón heritage (fugitive slaves who settled in the wild to lead a free life in Cuba) empowers his AfroCuban mix of funky grooves, but he also takes a little from George Clintons diasporic funk from here in the States. In short, the last 500 years of AfroCaribeanAmerican history led us to this wonderful moment where we can all dance to Cimafunk together. Weve had the honor of hanging out with Cimafunk for a few SXSW now. Most recently, Cimafunk and The Tribe brought the dance party to historic Studio 6a, the former home of Austin City Limits, for a live broadcast during SXSW 2022.
