TRIP REPORT Amtrak Southwest Chief, Chicago to Los Angeles

By popular request, I went and checked out Amtrak s Southwest Chief. This video documents in detail what it s like spending 2 days in a roomette sleeper. The Chief (at least in its current form) is often considered to be endangered, so I m very happy I got the chance to check it out. Overall, I was impressed with the experience. The crew was the best I ve experienced thus far, the food was above average, and the scenery through New Mexico and Arizona was beautiful. Though Amtrak s Superliner equipment is starting to show its age a bit, and the overall scenery was not as impressive as some other routes I ve done (particularly the California Zephyr).
