ADRAS J, Active Debris Removal by Astroscale Japan, Concept of Operations
The ADRASJ mission will be the worlds first attempt to safely approach and characterize an existing piece of large debris through Rendezvous and Proximity Operations and is the start of a fullfledged debris removal service. The ADRASJ spacecraft was selected by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agencys for Phase I of its Commercial Removal of Debris Demonstration Project, one of the worlds first technology demonstrations of removing largescale debris from orbit. ADRASJ will demonstrate safe and secure approach known as RPO with a client space object and will obtain images of and other data about that object, delivering observational information to better understand the space debris environment.
