Happy Independence Day, Goa How India Lost Won Goa
This is the story of Indias forgotten war of freedom. While India was free from the British Raj on 15th August, 1947, Goa was still languishing under four and half century oppressive Portuguese rule. The Portuguese were among the very first to colonise parts of India and were the last to leave. Goa was liberated from the Portuguese rule fourteen years later, on this day, 19 December, 1961. Armed guerrillas, satyagrahis, journalists and even legendary film artists fought for Goas independence.
