M, S of man standing beside an elephant in a pen. C, U of the elephant looking rather forlorn in its pen. M, S of man sitting on elephant s back the elephant looks very uncomfortable and unhappy. It is tied to the bars of its pen and appears to be trying to break free. Men tease the elephant. French intertitle reads something along the lines of So that he isn t bothered by birds, the trainer ( ) shows him a chicken to get him used to it. It makes him angry (I think ) The elephant looks very unhappy. L, S of a tree being felled. Elephant moves the tree by pushing it with its trunk. Man drags the elephant along by a chain, the elephant in turn pulls the tree. It all looks a bit barbaric by today s standards. L, S of four elephants being forced to push a large tree.
