Trained Fingers (1926)

A camera interview with Mr Albert Sammons, the famous British violinist. Introductory intertitle reads: Millions of wireless listeners, as well as Concert enthusiasts, have been thrilled and moved by the art of Mr. In a drawing room setting (probably a studio set) Mr Sammons walks along playing the violin. He stands by an armchair playing away. C, U of him playing. C, U of his hand as he fingers the strings. We are shown an Ostrovsky developing machine which is used to perfect finger training. The machine is placed on a marble table, it has little keys which are pressed down. Another machine stretches the web between the fingers and develops suppleness it looks pretty painful as the fingers are stretched apart. The finger and thumb are placed into the machine and stretched apart. Another machine is used for developing single action and double stops, and to ensure speed, strength and accuracy.
