Elton John Are You Ready For Love 1979 Soul Purrfection Version
In 1976 Elton John released Blue Moves and the tepid reception of Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word led him to believe that he was facing musical stagnation. After the promotional period for the album ended he reached out to Spinners producer Thom Bell in early 1977 to explore his soulful side. Elton worked with Leroy Bell and Casey James in Philadelphia s famed Sigma studios recording a few songs with the Spinners when the producers received word from the label that the project was going to be shelved. Bell relates that the sessions had gone very well and that Elton was in top form but shrugged and they both moved on. The Spinners were the backing band along with the Sweethearts of Sigma on backgrounds, Bobby Eli on guitar and Thom Bell on keyboards. Thom wrote Are You Ready For Love.
