1957Choteau, Sweet Grass Pennsylvaniaborn Robert E. Curly Bob Lawrence moved to Montana in 1945 after serving four years as a Navy Gunners Mate in the South Pacific. Bob worked for Monarch Lumber, operating yards in Augusta, Brady, Sunburst. The Rocky Mountain Ramblers were formed in 1946, by Choteau accordion player Ed Obernolte, whom would later leave the band to start a polka group called The Happy Four. Curly Bob took over as frontman for The Ramblers in 48, playing around northwest MT for years. In 1957, they released a few 45s on Bobs own Western record label, based out of Sunburst. Around this time, Bob opened a bar in Sweet Grass called, Curly Bobs Supper Club in 1964, he ran for the office of Lieutenant Governor.
