In more than 44 million population of Ukraine, predominantly Christian, 1 of them (500, 000) are Muslims and they have a complete freedom of practicing their religion, without any fear in Ukraine. The ArRahma Mosque, translated Mercy Mosque, is a mosque in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. It was built between the years 1996 and 2000 in the Tatarka neighborhood of the city. The total capacity of this mosque is 3, 000 and the height of the minaret is 27 meters. The architect of this mosque is Alexander Komorowski. The first attempt to build a mosque in Kiev was in 1897. Muslims of that time were able to open a house of worship in Kiev on 5 Peace Street, in the house of Kalinovich in Podil. The next attempt to build a mosque was made in 1991.
