My Other Me: A Film About Cosplayers 2013

Teens and young adults discovering their true identities while dressing up as fictional characters. My Other Me is a documentary that chronicles a year in the life of three different cosplayers: a veteran cosplayer who launched her career from cosplay, a young fourteenyearoldfirsttimer, and a transgender who found himself through the hobby of cosplay. The documentary will cover everything from each different cosplayer s home life, to their costume process, to their journey through the convention circuit, to the profound effect cosplay is having on each of their lives. There s been a lot of documentaries lately about Cosplay, many having been clearly filmed and constructed by someone that isn t involved in the community. This film gets right to the heart of what being a Cosplayer really is the diversity of those that engage in this hobby. It s extremely insightful and heart warming as we follow the Cosplayers through a typical convention year and see how they grow.
