Guided by a map thrown in by someone, the Akechi family and detective team visit the Boso Peninsula. Staying at Akechi s villa, the group heads to the waters off an uninhabited island known as Devil s There, they are working to salvage the Ashibiki Maru, a ship that sank with the Shogunate s military funds aboard, but the work is proving difficult due to a mysterious monster. Akechi and Kobayashi, who entered the sea in place of the frightened divers, encounter a monster on the seabed. They return to land and try to find out what it is, when the monster comes ashore and attacks them.
