How To Get Your Hands On First King Charles Banknotes
The first bank notes featuring King Charles portrait were released on Wednesday almost two years after he succeeded the late Queen Elizabeth. His Majestys portrait will appear on the new 5, 10, 20 and 50 bills while existing notes featuring his mother will continue to circulate. King Charles is the second monarch to appear on these notes, after Queen Elizabeth II who was first featured in 1960. The new notes will be released gradually to replace wornout currencyor to meet any increase in demand. This approach is in line with guidance from the Royal Household, to minimise the environmental and financial impact of this change, the Bank of England said. This is a historic moment, as it s the first time we ve changed the sovereign on our notes.
