Cheri Jo Bates, Unprecedent Access to the Evidence, A Real Cold Case Detectives Opinion
Cheri Jo Bates was murdered October 30, 1966 on the campus of Riverside College in California. This case has gone unsolved despite a tremendous effort by the Riverside Police Department. Through the years, web sleuths have tried to make a connection with the Zodiac Killings in California a few years after this homicide. In fact, Zodiac himself claimed Cheri Jo Bates as his victim. Yet, Riverside police say this is not true and Bates died at the hands of a domestic altercation with a former friend with the initials BB. Detective Mains has inside knowledge on this homicide, being allowed to test physical evidence in this case and having unprecedented access to the police reports. Although he will not release the reports, he can talk about the case and what he read in those reports as part of the 2017 History Channel docuseries Hunt for the Zodiac Killer.
